How many crows are there in the city?
एक बार ठीक धूप के दिन, राजा अकबर और बीरबल महल के बगीचों में इत्मीनान से टहल रहे थे।
अकबर ने एक बार अपनी अदालत में एक प्रश्न रखा, जिसने सभी को हैरान कर दिया। जैसा कि उन सभी ने जवाब जानने की कोशिश की, बीरबल ने कहा और पूछा कि मामला क्या था। और इसलिए उन्होंने उसे सवाल बताया।
शहर में कुल कितने कौवे हैं?
"हमारे राज्य में कुल कितने कौवे हैं?"
बीरबल तुरंत मुस्कुराए, अकबर के पास गए और घोषणा की कि उनके सवालों का जवाब हमारे राज्य में अस्सी हज़ार नौ सौ इकहत्तर कौवे हैं।
जब उनसे पूछा गया कि उन्हें जवाब कैसे पता है, तो बीरबल ने जवाब दिया, अपने आदमियों से कौवे की संख्या गिनने को कहें। यदि अधिक हैं, तो शहर के बाहर के कौवे के रिश्तेदार उनसे मिलने आ रहे हैं। यदि कम हैं, तो कौवे शहर से बाहर अपने रिश्तेदारों से मिलने जा रहे हैं। ’जवाब से प्रसन्न होकर, अकबर ने बीरबल को माणिक और मोती की चेन भेंट की। अकबर ने बीरबल की हंसी और बुद्धि को देखकर बहुत मुस्कुराया।

Once on a fine sunny day, king Akbar and Birbal were taking a leisurely walk in the palace gardens.
Akbar once put a question to his court that left everyone puzzled. As they all tried to figure out the answer, Birbal walked and asked what the matter was. And so they told him the question.
‘How many crows are there in the city?’
“How many crows are there in our kingdom?”
Birbal immediately smiled, went up to Akbar and announced that the answer to his questions was eighty thousand nine hundred and seventy-one crows in our kingdom”.
When asked how he knew the answer, Birbal replied, ‘Ask your men to count the number of crows. If there are more, then the crows’ relatives from outside the city are visiting them. If there are fewer, then the crows are visiting their relatives outside the city.’ Pleased with the answer, Akbar presented Birbal with a ruby and pearl chain. Akbar smiled at Birbal’s great sense of humor and wit.
Moral
There is always a solution if one thinks with ease.
